By taking this course, you will learn the 'what', 'how', and 'why' of different levels of formality in Korean, so you will develop greater awareness of how to speak to different kinds of people in Korea, and you will learn what language you should use when speak to them.
In this course, you will learn how hierarchy is established in different context, such as at school, home and at work.
You will learn the differences between Korean age and western age, and how Korean age is the basis of social hierarchy in Korea.
You will learn how Korean verbs are conjugated into honorific forms and how they are used with different people in the hierarchy.
You will also learn how to address your peers and people of seniority.
And lastly, you will learn how to use formal language in different situations, such as when talking about age, or talking about taking someone to a particular place.
